Listening to Kid A we were told we had our heads, or were holding heads, on sticks: “you’ve got heads on sticks.”
Listening to The King Of Limbs, the voice in “Lotus Flower” wants “the moon upon a stick.”
Heads on sticks. A moon upon a stick.

Heads on sticks. A moon upon a stick.
Kid A begins with a mouth closed around a lemon: “Yesterday I woke up sucking a lemon.” A past-tense description.
The King Of Limbs begins with a mouth open wide: “Open your mouth wide.” An imperative.

Colin Greenwood:
It’s been nearly three years since we announced our “pay what you think it’s worth” scheme for the launch of our last record In Rainbows. I remember the excitement of it all, not least because the release date was my wife’s birthday, 10 October. The idea came from a friend of our manager, who proposed an “honesty box”, placing the onus on people to ask themselves how much they valued our music. Last summer, as we finished some more recordings, we started to think and talk about how to release them…
From his essay Set Yourself Free.
These lyrics are difficult ( for me ) to make out.

don’t [ hold? ] me
don’t [ hold? ] me
gather up the [ ? ]
in your arms
gather up and [ ? ]
in your arms
what seems impossible
in your arms
i think i’ve had my fill
in your arms
i’ve been told to give up the ghost
in your arms
??????, Thom Yorke’s band that performed in early October (playing “The Eraser” and “Atoms For Peace”), will be called Atoms For Peace (wiki).
From the Dead Air Space entry:
ok so in April the other band.. that i got together to do the eraser and other stuff u know .. Mauro, Flea, Me, Joey and Nigel is going back out to do some shows in the US.. ending with playing with Coachella. we had too much fun to just leave it there…
it has been decided that we call ourselves Atoms For Peace. hope you like the name.. it seemed bleedin’ obvious.
Atoms for Peace is also “the title of a speech delivered by U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower to the UN General Assembly in New York City on December 8, 1953.” The text of the speech is available at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) website: http://www.iaea.org/About/history_speech.html.
An excerpt: “Against the dark background of the atomic bomb, the United States does not wish merely to present strength, but also the desire and the hope for peace.” That a force of destruction can be the background for peace is called, in classical logic, a contradiction. But the speech does assert that nuclear power, “must be put into the hands of those who will know how to strip its military casing and adapt it to the arts of peace.”
But, as Yorke has noted (see “nuclear power no thanks”), nuclear power can’t easily–if at all–be turned over to the arts of peace. Yorke directs readers to, for example, http://www.greenpeace.org.uk/nuclear.
